The foundation that makes everything else work

Lifecycle management, versioned migrations, and shared utilities used by every other module.

🔄
Lifecycle

Activator & Deactivator lifecycle

Clean activation sets up default options, creates database tables, and schedules cron jobs. Clean deactivation clears schedules and removes temporary data — without deleting your settings.

📦
Migration

Database migrations

Versioned database schema migrations. When the plugin updates, tables are migrated automatically. No manual SQL, no phpMyAdmin — everything handled in code.

🛠️
Helpers

Utility helpers library

A library of helper functions used across all modules: option getters/setters, time formatting, array utilities, debug logging, and the crawler list constants.

Crawler List

20+ AI crawler definitions

Bundled list of 23 AI crawler signatures with User-Agent strings: GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, Bytespider, cohere-ai, Applebot-Extended, Amazonbot, and more.

🧹
Uninstall

Full uninstall cleanup

When uninstalled (not just deactivated), SummitCite removes all database tables, options, cron jobs, and uploaded files. No orphaned data left behind in your WordPress.

📁
Assets

Organized asset management

CSS, JS, and image assets are loaded only when needed — admin pages load admin assets, front-end loads front-end assets. No bloat on unnecessary pages.

How the foundation works

Install, let modules build on it, and update or uninstall cleanly — nothing left behind.

1

Install & activate

The activator creates the crawler_log table, sets default options, and schedules the daily cleanup cron job. Everything is ready immediately.

2

Modules use foundation

All 8 other modules build on top of the Foundation Core: shared helpers, the crawler list, database access, and the option management system.

3

Update or uninstall cleanly

Updates run versioned migrations. Uninstall removes everything — tables, options, cron jobs. Your WordPress stays clean.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the Foundation Core module.

What is the Foundation Core module?

The Foundation Core (Module 0) is the base layer that all other 8 modules build on. It includes: the main plugin file (nexacite.php), the Activator/Deactivator classes, Database migration handlers, the Helpers utility library, the Crawler List constants (23 AI crawler signatures), and the Uninstall cleanup handler.

What happens when I activate the plugin?

The activator creates the {prefix}_aive_crawler_log database table, sets default options in wp_options, schedules the daily cleanup cron job, and registers the default crawler list. Everything is ready to use immediately — no manual setup required.

How do database migrations work?

Each plugin version has a schema version number. On update, the migration handler compares the installed version with the current version. If the database schema needs updating, the migration runs automatically — creating new columns, modifying indexes, or creating new tables — all within a single transaction.

What happens when I uninstall the plugin?

When you click ‘Delete’ on the plugins page (uninstall, not deactivate), SummitCite removes: the crawler_log database table, all SummitCite options from wp_options, the daily cron schedule, and any uploaded files. No orphaned data, no leftover tables — your WordPress stays clean.

Which AI crawlers are in the bundled list?

The bundled crawler list includes 23 signatures: GPTBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot (Common Crawl), Bytespider (ByteDance), cohere-ai, Applebot-Extended, Amazonbot, and 14 more. The list is maintained and updated with each plugin release.
